Each year cybersecurity takes on a greater importance for businesses and nonprofits across Michigan. It is critical that organizations know how to protect both business and consumer data. As threats continue to grow, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has partnered with the Michigan State Police Cyber Command Center (MC3) to help educate organizations on how to prevent and respond to cyber-attacks.

“Education is key for businesses of all sizes. It is critical that organizations know what to watch for, and what to avoid in order to prevent critical data breaches,” said Phil Catlett, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau Serving Western Michigan.

“Scammers are not just targeting your personal information, they’re also targeting your business’s information as well,” said Melanie Duquesnel, BBB president and CEO of Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. “It is very important to be vigilant against cyber threats targeting your business’s pertinent information. Anyone could become a target.”

“Sharing cybersecurity information boosts the resilience of the business community and increases the response to ever-evolving cyber threat actors,” said Jeff Hoffman, Sergeant with the Michigan Cyber Command Center. “Information shared with the MC3 is confidential and only details of the cyber threat, not victim organization details, are shared amongst relevant I.T./cyber security partners.”
